The Right Battery for Your Crown Forklift
Crown builds electric trucks exclusively — no engines, no LPG — so a Crown fleet lives and dies by its batteries. The good news: every Crown runs a standard industrial lead-acid pack. Voltage, compartment dimensions, and minimum weight off the data plate are what matter; the Crown badge does not change the battery.
Crown owns the narrow aisle: reach trucks, order pickers, and turret trucks that run tall racking on 24V and 36V packs. Those duty cycles are lift-heavy — the battery spends its day hoisting loads to 30 feet, not just rolling — which punishes weak cells early. A pack that voltmeter-checks fine can still sag under a full-height lift, which is exactly why we load-test every cell at full draw before a pack leaves the shop.
Send the model and serial from your Crown data plate — reach truck, order picker, pallet truck, or counterbalance — and we quote a tested, matched pack within 2 hours.
Multi-shift Crown operations usually run a battery-per-shift rotation with a charging room — which means the real question is not “which battery” but “how many.” A rebuilt second pack often costs less than the productivity lost to opportunity charging a single pack across two shifts. We will price both answers when you ask.
Crown Forklift Battery Voltage by Class
| Truck class | Typical Crown models | Typical voltage |
|---|---|---|
| Class III — pallet trucks & walkies | WP/PC-series pallet trucks and comparable walkie models | 24V |
| Class II — reach trucks & order pickers | RR/RD reach and SP order-picker families | 24V or 36V |
| Class II — turret / very narrow aisle | TSP-series turret trucks | 36V |
| Class I — electric counterbalance | FC/SC-series sit-down models | 36V or 48V |
Always confirm on the data plate. The model family narrows the voltage; your truck’s data plate states the exact voltage, minimum battery weight, and compartment size — the plate decides it. Not sure? Send us a photo and we’ll read it for you.

Crown Forklift Battery Questions
What battery does a Crown reach truck use?
Most Crown reach trucks (RR/RD families) run 36V; some smaller units run 24V. Order pickers are commonly 24V, turret trucks 36V, and FC/SC counterbalance models 36V or 48V. The data plate on the truck states the exact voltage and minimum battery weight — always match the plate.
Why do reach-truck batteries wear out differently than counterbalance packs?
Narrow-aisle duty is lift-dominated: the pack delivers repeated high-current draws hoisting to full rack height. Weak cells show up as voltage sag at height — slow lifts, dropped travel speed — long before they fail outright. Full-draw load testing catches those cells; a simple voltage check does not.
Do I have to buy the battery from Crown?
No. Crown trucks use standard industrial batteries; any pack matching the plate — voltage, tray size, weight, connector — runs the truck. A rebuilt, load-tested pack costs 40–60% less than new and carries our 12-month replacement warranty.
Our Crown order picker slows down at full height — battery or truck?
Usually the battery. Voltage sag under high-current lift is the classic symptom of one or more weak cells. We can load-test the pack — if it is the battery, you will see exactly which cells drop; if it holds, you have ruled the battery out before paying for a tech to chase the truck.
How fast can you replace a Crown forklift battery in SoCal?
Common 24V and 36V Crown sizes typically ship in 3–5 business days, delivered free across Southern California with on-site swap and old-pack trade-in ($200–$1,500 credit) on the same run.
Do Crown trucks use special battery connectors?
They use standard industrial connector families — nothing proprietary — but amperage rating and polarity orientation must match your truck and charger. Include the connector in your data-plate photo and the pack arrives ready to plug in.
Multi-shift Crown fleet: one battery or two per truck?
Past roughly a shift and a half of daily use, a second pack in rotation usually beats opportunity charging — lead-acid wants a full charge and a cool-down, not sips. Two rebuilt packs often cost less than one new one, which makes the rotation math easy.
